CK Therapy ; Understanding trauma therapy
Imagine your brain is like a factory. Evervday experiences happen and they are boxed up. The boxes run through the factory smoothly are processed and turned and stored into memories. When vou experience a traumatic event this box is too big to fit through the factory. The box is clogging up the factory, it's making all the alarm systems go off. Things are noisy, everything else is stuck behind. Think; flashbacks (flashing lights) , overwhelming noises and an inability to stay in the present moment. What we do in therapy is take a look at that box. We handle it with care and take out small pieces of the box to process one bit at a time. We make smaller boxes from it to help your brain fit it through the machine and turn it into a memorv. It may still carry sadness or anger however the level of distress and PTSD symptoms like lights noises and panic are no longer there. Your brain can start looking at the new boxes coming in. We can work with you on your trauma through different types of therapy; EMDR Art Therapy Traditional talking psychotherapy Keep following as we will explain more on these soon!
