CKTherapy thoughtful reflections ;
“Who taught you rest was wrong?” We often see clients who feel deeply uncomfortable with rest — not because they don’t need it, but because guilt shows up the moment they slow down. Sometimes, that guilt traces back to early messages: being praised for being “low maintenance,” not needing much, always being the helper. Over time, those messages can make it hard to ask for support or to feel worthy of rest. But your nervous system has limits. When rest is postponed for too long, your body eventually takes the lead — through burnout, fatigue, or shutdown. If you notice guilt creeping in when you try to rest, it’s worth asking: Where did I learn that resting is wrong? And who benefits when I ignore my own?
