CKTherapy thoughtful reflections ;
“Who taught you rest was wrong?” We often see clients who feel deeply uncomfortable with rest — not because they don’t need it, but because guilt shows up the moment they slow down. Sometimes, that guilt traces back to early messages: being praised for being “low maintenance,” not needing much, always being the helper. Over time, those messages can make it hard to ask for support or to feel worthy of rest. But your nervous system has limits. When rest is postponed for too long, your body eventually takes the lead — through burnout, fatigue, or shutdown. If you notice guilt creeping in when you try to rest, it’s worth asking: Where did I learn that resting is wrong? And who benefits when I ignore my own? CK Therapy.
In therapy we may explore different goals to what you’re expecting. One example is exploring Redefining Success. What does success really look like to you? Is it... • Having a compassionate inner dialogue? • Setting and maintaining good boundaries? • Feeling safe to be your authentic self? • Knowing you are good enough just as you are? • Accepting that mistakes are part of being human? • Feeling emotionally regulated and at peace? • Living a life that aligns with your values? • Cultivating a strong support system? • stopping yourself from comparison? Success can often be categorised in society by wealth or achievements and so many things can be missed. which can cause us to overlook what truly matters, leading to lowered self-esteem as we chase things we value but don’t truly fulfill us. When we align our personal definition of success with our actions, we can see a positive shift in both our mental health and self-esteem. • What is your version of success ?
