CKTherapy has received another wonderful review about a client whose worked with Catherine in EMDR
“I honestly can’t thank Catherine enough, after trying other therapists that didn’t quite work for me I found Catherine offering EMDR. She was welcoming, kind and extremely comforting from the get go and has truly changed my life. The sessions slowly improved my trauma and Catherine guided me through the process.” If you’d like to share your experience of working with one of our team please leave a review on our Google page. Remember that your capacity isn’t the same as your capability.
Just because you can do something doesn’t mean you have the energy, emotional space, or presence to do it well right now. For example: you might have messages to reply to, laundry piling up, and a list of things you could get through. But if your body feels heavy, your mind is foggy, or you’re emotionally stretched, pushing through often leads to doing things in a way that feels disconnected or resentful. Capacity is about what you can hold well, not just what you can force yourself to do. Sometimes the most therapeutic choice is to pause, rest, and come back when you can engage with intention rather than depletion. #psychotherapy #selfcare #therapeuticreflections Ep 5-Our Journey with autism. Imposter Syntone in the Therapy Roon OUT NOW!
In this episode of Twice Translated, we share more of our personal and professional journeys with autism, and open up about something many therapists quietly carry …imposter syndrome. We explore what it's like to sit in the therapy room and question yourself: Am I understanding this well enough? Am I experienced enough? Am I "enough" at all? We speak honestly about exploring autism from both autistic and neurotypical perspectives, and what it can feel like when it seems like you're speaking a different language to the world around you. This is a more personal and vulnerable conversation for us. We reflect on empathy, difference, and what it means to try to meet someone in their world even when it feels unfamiliar. It’s okay if something affects you even when it doesn’t affect someone else. If I asked four people to draw a tree, every picture would look different. One might draw a palm tree. Another an oak. Someone else a willow. Someone might draw an entire forest. They were all given the same word, but every brain interpreted it differently. We experience the world through our own history, nervous system, memories, support systems, and the meaning we make of things. Sometimes in therapy we hear the classic: “I don’t know why I’m here… my friend went through the exact same thing and they’re fine.” But the reality is that two people can go through the same event and experience it completely differently. Why? Because our brains and nervous systems interpret and store experiences based on our past, our resilience at that moment, the support around us, and what the experience meant to us personally. So if something affected you and others seemed “fine,” that doesn’t make your feelings wrong. It just means you’re different humans with different inner worlds. #psychotherapy #compassionate therapy #traumainformedpractice. CK Therapy client reviews
Read this wonderful client testimonial from someone who’s worked with our compassionate partner Lisa. “I’ve been going to sessions with Lisa for almost a year and a half, after struggling with the effects of childhood trauma l needed someone to help me unpack everything and help to improve self esteem, anxiety, depression and relationships with others. Lisa has been a wonderful therapist and has truly helped me to change my life, how I feel about myself, understand my life experiences and understand how to better connect with others. She creates a warm and accepting environment, and I couldn’t recommend enough.” Get in touch to explore working with one of our compassionate team or leave your own review of your experience working with a team member at CKTherapy.
